Marta Cavagnaro received the cum laude degree and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from "La Sapienza" University of Rome in 1993 and 1997, respectively. The PhD final work was devoted to the "Evaluation of the power absorbed in subjects exposed to the electromagnetic fields emitted from wireless communication systems".
Since June 2000 she is Assistant Professor (group of Microwaves) at the Faculty of Engineering of "La Sapienza" University of Rome, Department of Electronic Engineering.
In 1996 she received the Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Radio Science (URSI).
Within the Department of Electronic Engineering, she collaborates with the Chair of Microwaves (prof. Paolo Bernardi) and of Bioelectromagnetic Interaction (prof. Guglielmo d'Inzeo) by doing lectures and examinations. Moreover, she has also been invited by other Chairs for seminars on the Finite Difference Time Domain technique and its application in bioelectromagnetic dosimetry.
Her actual research interests are mainly linked to dosimetry problems, both with reference to the interaction of electromagnetic fields with the human body (e.g. cellular phones and the human head; radio-base stations and humans), and with single cells
