CURRICULUM VITAE

Marta Cavagnaro received the M.S. Degree "cum laude" in Electronic Engineering in 1993 from Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), with a thesis on the power transmission with microwave beams.

In 1997 she received the Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome, discussing a thesis on the evaluation of the power absorption in people exposed to the electromagnetic fields associated with mobile communication systems.

In 2000 she became Assistant Professor of Electromagnetic Fields, and since the end of 2012 she is Associate Professor of Electromagnetic Fields at the Dept. of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, Sapienza University of Rome.

From 2003 to 2014 she teached a course on “Environmental Impact of Electromagnetic Fields” for the Electronic and Communication Master Degrees, and from 2004 to 2010 was co-teacher of the Course "Biomedical Instrumentation III" for the Degree in Biomedical Engineering and Electronic Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome.

At present she is co-teacher of the Courses “Antennas and Propagation” and “Engineering Electromagnetics” for the Communication Master Degree, and she is co-teacher of the Course "Biomedical Instrumentation II(A)" for the Degree in Biomedical Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome.

Her research activity is mainly devoted to dosimetric aspects of the interaction between electromagnetic fields and biological systems. Her interests include medical applications of electromagnetic fields, as interstitial techniques for therapeutic use of microwave energy and UWB radars techniques for the remote monitoring of breath activity. Moreover, she is interested in numerical methods for solving Maxwell's equations, evaluation of power absorption and temperature increase in subjects exposed to the field radiated by mobile communication systems, and electromagnetic fields measurement techniques.

She has been a Member of the SCIII - Standing Committee on Physics & Engineering of ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection). She is a member of the Board of Professors of the Information and Communications Technologies PhD, Sapienza University of Rome.

Marta Cavagnaro serves as a reviewer for several international journals.
